This is one of the common problems with plasma cutter we’ve seen up to now. Once it comes to plasma cutters, larger is generally better; the only exception for this is if you’d like an exact cut by way of fine cutting for art.
Regardless of what the maker claims on their earnings page. The system may not have enough oomph to finish the task in the actual world. Thus, bearing this in your mind, whatever the highest metal depth you feel will cut. Purchase a cutter that’s 1 step up. Anything less, and you’ll most likely be limited to cutting sheet metal just.
You could also discover the number of consumables you store in a year using a larger machine to cover the bigger unit. Consult the operator’s manual if in doubt and maintain optimum air pressure for your amperage used. Each cutter will differ so that it’s good to double-check the recommended air pressure configurations.
5 Common Problems with Plasma Cutter
Air pressure is too significant
Too much high pressure can dissolve the arc column and weaken this plasma arc’s ability.
Items to check:
- The pressure involving the air filter and air compressor.
The Faulty air relief valve
Items to check:
- Is your compressor supplying enough air?
- Are the air stations blocked?
The resistor gets hot
The plasma cutter is not functioning, and the resistor becomes hot.
Check these items:
Remove the cap and inspect the device’s front area’s interior and maintain the flashlight switch to find out whether you’re receiving a spark within the device. If you do not find any spark within the unit when holding the flashlight trigger, something has been neglected in your lower board. Check out the resistor situated behind the arc points and be standing vertical. Eliminate the plank unsolder and set up the newest one.
Electricity LED turned on
Air blew throughout the flashlight once it pressesed the trigger.
However, there wasn’t an arc nor some cutting-edge.
How to fix?
If, however, the device is beyond warranty and you’re handy with these items, then as soon as you start this up, release the electricity, and search for broken components. A number of the most frequent ones are:
- Broken processor / MOSFET (chunk missing in the processor ).
- Contact the regional welding shop to get some information and components.
Plasma Cutter not arcing
Even though the arc may cut or melt metal, it is not the proper cutting procedure since the swirl ring is needed for plasma cutting-edge. I have replaced each of the three elements – tip/nozzle, swirl band, and electrode, place the compressed air at several degrees, and eliminated the casing to check. But I did not locate any burnt circuit or parts.
How to fix?
Well, turn off the machine before messing with all the metal components.
Eliminate the cover. Check your stage difference. Your problem is very likely that the spark gap must be widened to approximately .040″ to grow the noise canceling in your flashlight.
The pad which contacts the electrode can go away from the electrode under air pressure. A spring on the mat shaft may overcome the air pressure and pushes the mat off from the electrode. The spring may become too hot and exhausted, causing the mat to never go back to electrode contact following the change is unkeyed.
The mat should get in touch with the electrode at up key; as soon as the air moves it away from the electrode, a gap is made, causing electrons to flow through the gap to allow the plasma to be generated and also to flow. Alter the spring. Be sure that it is clean and place correctly.
